The CAS nominees could match Oscar 5 for 5. It’s happened before back in 2003 (Return of the King) and 2000 (Gladiator). Both films had sound mixers who worked on these 5 CAS nominees above (The Hobbit and Skyfall).
Then again, there are so many alternatives that the Academy could choose to nominate. I find it hard to believe that The Dark Knight Rises won’t get a nomination. There are also films like, The Avengers and Life of Pi out there, too.
Zero Dark Thirty and Lincoln are the favorites to win Best Picture and, naturally, that ups their chances for the technical nominations like Sound Mixing. Les Miserables, as a musical, should get the nomination. I could see Skyfall getting left off here in favor of The Dark Knight Rises.
